Sri Lanka is known for the best service and hospitality in the whole of Asia HOWEVER it saddens me to say Agra reflects none of the above.

I wish I could comment on the food but unfortunately our shocking experience from the staff at Agra inc the Manager, had forced us to have to ignore the food or the lack of it from what we had ordered. From the out set the staff were extremely rude, non hospitable and at times had totally ignored me and my girlfriend. After having had enough of the constant bad treatment we had asked for the bill to leave in a polite manner only to be confronted with anger and over charging for what we had ordered. A complaint was then followed up with the manager who was unwilling to hear the situation from a customers point of view and had told us to pay the bill which was over charged and then "LEAVE" !!! You will have to take my opinion on this, but he was the most incompetent manager I have ever had the misfortune of meeting, which may be a good indication for the attitudes of some of the staff. After having walked the manager through a simple calculation and explination of the over charged bill I had decided to leave with less money in my pocket than expected as I seemed to be getting no where with reasoning with stupidity.

  1. Rude waiters
  2. Incorrect order taken
  3. Over charged bill
  4. Incompetent Manager (Me being a Brit it was easy to see why a ex pat CHAV has ruined not only our experience but im SURE inevitably this restaurant some day too)

I was a European traveller who who was in SL for couple of weeks who wanted a change from having typical (good) Sri Lankan food for five days so, decided to try this place out. We (Five of us) arrived a little late on a Friday night for dinner without pre-booking. The place was packed with diners however, the very helpful and efficient staff found a nice seating area for us within ten minutes or so. There was an excellent choice of dishes on the menu and despite the fact that it was a very busy night, our order was served fairly swiftly. The food tasted great and in my personal opinion, better Indian food than what you would typically get in a good quality Indian restaurant in London. The ambience was absolutely wonderful -there was a large water feature in right middle of the venue and light levels were perfect too. There was live Sri Lankan classical music being played throughout the evening. The staff were very helpful and efficient. Although the the waiting staff were local, we learnt that the chef was actually Indian. The price was not the cheapest but in my experience, it has been very good value for the money (the bill was just over 12 thousand SL Rupees for five of us including a couple of drinks. In hindsight, this was truly a memorable and satisfying dining experience and i would go as far as saying that (as a frequent global traveller), one of the best dining experience I have had.

The food is good, and the place very calm. Been there few times and I actually loved the food! It tastes like authentic Indian cuisine :)

Well, the food is OK, but quite expensive considering the portions are very small!

Service is ok..

It is South Indian restaurant located on Independence Avenue behind Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club . It is a very small restaurant. The staff need to be more friendly. The food is pretty average and need improvement. The washrooms are pretty clean.

Wow, really This is one of the best Indian restaurant in Colombo with nice ambience! been there twice and liked the food and the simplicity of the menu.

Most indian restaurants has complex and pretty confusing menus which leads to bad experience, because most of the time I have no idea what to do!

Either the menus need to be clear or the waiter has to give suggestions :P

Good place!

Ahh.. this is one of the good north indian cuisine in colombo next to Mathura! Worth to have a visit!
