Description

It is housed in a property which was the office of the country's most famed architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa, now distressingly in the shadow of a rather large apartment complex. It is an open air restaurant, which serves grills, both seafood and meats, as well as a generous smattering of quite unique dishes mixing eastern and western, which we are assured are not ''fusion''. It has quite an upmarket atmosphere, with celebrities, politicians, tourists, NGO workers and socialites among its clientele.

Despite this seeming disqualification, the food and service are actually very good indeed, and it offers the dubious benefit of being a place to go and see, as well as be seen, by all visitors local and foreign. It has few rivals in the ambiance department, in al fresco perhaps Tao and Il Ponte; but in terms of food, it would be our first recommendation if you are taking an important foreign visitor out. The prices are not cheap, but the food can be really good (most of the time). Restaurant branded Bottled Water is served and billed even if you do not ask for it. It won the Presidential Award for Best Restaurant at the Travel & Tourism Awards 2009 (held in June 2010). It is also open for lunch, but is a totally different place in the afternoon, quite sleepy and laid back.

It’s a great place to take your overseas business colleges out, since they have a paradise road shop next to the restaurant, you can take your colleges for shopping, which will definably save time.

One of the best places i have been...! Went for coffee and desert......jaggery creme brule was amazing ans the chocolate brownie and ice cream was quite good. Above all the atmosphere gives us a cool feeling, great place to hangout Coffee was average tho

Very chilled place. The sofa's and the atmosphere give that cosy feeling. Food is average. Desserts were pretty good though. The jaggery creme brule was great and so was the chocolate fondant. Try them! Its yum!

We visited srilanka 1year ago, me and my wife went for a romantic dinner at the gallery cafe,my wife ordered a soup and a sirloin steak, and I ordered a sea food soup and a veal Parmesan. First of all I should say the romantic dinner turned in to a nightmare.where the waiter took more than 20 minutes to bring a frozen margarita and a beer. The sea food soup tasted nothing but like fish curry and the sirloin steak tasted as if it was marinated in salt water. The veal tasted so disgusting, and when we told the supervisor there was too much salt in steak he said the chief never add salt in to the steak ( after he taking the steak back to the kitchen and bringing it back to the table) I even ask him to try a piece out of the steak and see for him self but he refused. I don't recommend this place to know one, it was a very bad experience.
