Java Lounge, Havelock Town

With Starbucks Coffee’s first venture in Sri Lanka is a popular hangout place for both young and old alike. There’s a wide range of both food and drink available from relaxing teas to awakening coffees.

Environment

The Lounge has a pleasant environment with its dark brown wood theme. The Sofa’s are comfortable, tha ambient lighting and décor makes the lounge a very nice to be.

Service

Service is decent, the staff are friendly and fast and speak good English.

Food

This is where the Java Lounge hits its lowest point. As a STARBUCKS outlet you’d expect its coffee to be the star of the show. Sadly this isn’t the case. The coffee is not up to standard with other more popular coffee lounges such as Coffee Bean and Baristas. This maybe Starbucks coffee but the preparation clearly isn’t being done to any real standard. However with Starbucks coffee you can’t go wrong with a freshly brewed coffee.

Value For Money

The Coffees are well priced for Starbucks. Around the same as they are elsewhere in the world. A cup of Hot Freshly Brewed Starbucks Coffee is just Rs.270 .

Overall

It’s good coffee at a good price, but stay away from the more complicated coffee drinks- the preparation needs to be improved.

Overall its a good place to go chill with someone. i tried the chicken wrap, but the wrap dint taste as good as the presentation of the dish was, because the wrap was packed with bell pepper slices which overpowered my taste buds. therefore i will not recommend that, but the cheesecakes over there are pretty delicious. Both food and drinks are pretty pricey over here, but i cannot complain much because thats how the Colombo coffee shop scenes are. Pastries and other short eats can be cheaper. But overall the place is chilled out, very friendly staff who greets you when you enter and waves at you with a smile when leaving. Good place to sit and talk with no disturbance. i had a pretty good experience here. - A J

Very Nice environment, nicely furnished with friendly staff. However the Coffee is overpriced and rather crap. Starbucks coffee or not the preparation clearly isnt been done to any standard whatsoever. Very disappointing for the first Starbucks venture in Sri Lanka. Despite the great environment, Competitors such as Coffee Bean and Barista's are miles ahead.

The coffee shop is pretty clean with friendly service. Comparing to other coffee shops, it is pretty quiet and an idea place for students to study or for meetings. Parking can sometimes be an issue. The coffees taste a lot like Starbucks Coffee. Jazz music is played, which can bring peace and quietness to the coffee shop. Wi-Fi signal is pretty fast like their other outlet at Cotton Collection. Universal Plug points are available so that any customer could use their computers. The washrooms are bit too small, but a very clean. The large sink in the washrooms can sometime be a bit inconvenient as it could come in the way, when you open the door. The sandwiches are quite good and sometimes the coffees.
