Description
This restaurant is famous for its fixed-price lunch buffet, served on every weekday. The price, when checked last, was Rs. 1000 + 11% taxes. This is very generous indeed. On some days, dinner is accompanied by loud live rock music. There are food festivals from time to time, and an average a la carte menu, which is updated frequently. So the UBG (as it is now known) never gets stale. There are theme nights from Wednesday to Saturday - the pick being Thursdays, which is Caribbean Night - from 7pm ~ 11pm. The food and service has improved considerably since the building was purchased by the Hirdramani Group. There are four soups, a few choices of burgers and starters, and some premium lamb and Mixed Grills. The certified Australian Angus steak for Rs. 1300 including tax seems to be the pick, and a BBQ Meat Platter for about LKR 720 nett (our Best Value recommendation). The breads are warm and fresh. The attached bar is one of the largest and best-stocked in Colombo.

The UBG is located on the lobby of the Hilton Colombo Residence. It is a fine dining, bars & pubs. It serves western and asia food. It is popular for it burgers as it is one of the best in town. The restaurant is quite peaceful and unlike other restaurants, you are able to have a relaxing meal without any loud noises in the background. There is also a buffet available, but the à la carte menu is the best. During weekends, you get local bands performing and the popular Pub Quiz happened once a week, which is popular among the tourist. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are very polite.
